Spring Schedule 2017

Spring is one of my most favorite seasons! It means rebirth and renewal. I hope to exemplify these in my new spring work in raku.  I am combining the soft smoked blackness of the raku firing and copper to showcase the white flowers of spring.  With open cut work and texture, the flowers come alive.  I hope that you will visit me at a spring show and see my new work.

November 2016 Schedule

COPPER WAVES

It has been a busy year and this is the last months for art festivals.  It has been a really good year with many new ideas and creations in raku.   I hope that you will join me at one of the final festivals of the year. This months photo is an example of the colors of copper, enhanced by a beautiful crystal formation, and is one of my latest pieces.  It has captured the fire, with blues, raspberry, and copper. This piece is hand carved and truly shows the magic of the fire.

Award Ribbons

I have been honored by winning 2 awards this summer.  I received a Merit Award from the Virginia Highlands Festival and an Award of Distinction from the Art in The Park, Blowing Rock, NC.    I am very proud and motivated to make the best work that I can.  Along those lines, I went to the Gem and Mineral Show in Spruce Pines in July and got some really nice specimens.  I have made several new pieces for several of these and they are waiting to be raku   fired.  I will post pictures when they are ready.  I get excited with new gems that inspire new concept pieces.  So many ideas and so little time!

I have new work in Seagrove Pottery of the Sandhills, Pinehurst, NC.  Also, my raku is part of an exhibit at the Center for Creative Leadership, Greensboro, NC.
